28.04.2019 - A particularly challenging round has marked I.S.R. racing's first exit of the season at the ADAC GT Masters in Oschersleben (GER).

The Czech outfit acquired a lot of experience last year and in this season it made it onto the track for the opening race of the exciting German series for GT cars in its second full season. The team fielded the #33 Audi R8 LMS driven by Filip Salaquarda (CZ) and by Audi Sport official driver Frank Stippler (GER).

The weekend was run under changing weather conditions and I.S.R. racing started the round putting in good performances since free practice when Salaquarda went quickest in FP2 displaying a good growth on the Audi R8 LMS.

The unpredictable unfolding of Q1 shuffled cards though. The Czech outfit opted for a prudent strategy with Salaquarda at the wheel waiting to push harder in the second part of the session. Unfortunately, three red flags, the last of which with a few minutes only to run and one final attempt left, prevented I.S.R. racing's driver to put together his ideal lap. Salaquarda closed his effort in P14 with his best lap completed in 1’23.919s. Q2 has also been quite complicated on the wet with Stippler struggling to find the right feeling with the wet tyres and posting the 20th time in 1’39.743s.

Salaquarda started race one with great motivation and recovered a position, but a contact in the melee of the mid-pack saw him slipping down to the last place. I.S.R. racing's driver had to run a recovery race and Stippler continued in this way after the drivers' change. The pairing closed the race in 24th place.

Race two was also focused on recovering positions. Stippler started from the tenth row of the grid but a car spun in front of him on lap one forcing him to drop some positions. The Audi factory driver kept a constant and effective pace throughout his stint, followed by Salaquarda who continued the race climbing up to P17 a few minutes to the chequered flag.

Igor Salaquarda (I.S.R. racing, Team Principal):
“We certainly gathered less than expected, but this has been quite an unpredictable weekend especially in qualifying and this hit badly our races. The feeling with the car is building up for both drivers and analyzing lap times we can see that our car lapped on a top ten pace. Filip posted the third quickest time in race one and this is certainly a positive indication to focus on in the coming rounds”.

I.S.R. racing will get back on track next May 17-19th for the second round of 2019 at the home circuit Autodrom Most (CZ).
